The Sea and its Marvels/ The Sea and its Monsters

Originally titled in portuguese as "O Mar e suas Maravilhas/ O Mar e suas Monstruosidades", this project was suggested in a Visual Communication course at my university in 2010. I selected these 8 pages because they simplified the creative process and aesthetic ideas of the project. The main idea was to create a series of faux biological illustrations of imaginary sea creatures, accompanied by text in an imaginary language, result of a merging in ancient fenician (because of this civilizations intimate relation to the sea) and arabic calligraphy (because I appreciate its beauty). The end result was a series of oceanic mysteries in a mysterious language. The objective was that the compilation would seem like a series of lost papers on sea fauna, discovered and repainted by me.
